Refusals & Resubmissions

Refusal analysis, GCMS review, resubmission and reconsideration strategy

A refusal is not always the end of the road. Most refused applications can be analysed, and many are approved on a second attempt once the actual reasons are understood and properly addressed. The costly mistake is re-applying blindly with the same file that was refused.

Why applications get refused

Credibility & consistency
The officer isn't satisfied the evidence hangs together.
Weak or misframed evidence
The documents are present but don't answer the officer's real question.
Ties, funds or purpose
Common in visitor, study and work applications.
Eligibility or completeness
A criterion was missed, or a form was wrong.
Understand the refusal first
Officers record their reasoning in the file's GCMS/ATIP notes. Requesting and reading these notes is almost always the essential first step — it turns a vague refusal letter into a specific list of what actually went wrong.

Your options after a refusal

With the identified weaknesses corrected.
Procedural Fairness response
When the officer raises a concern before deciding.
Reconsideration

Appeal or judicial review
Where a legal remedy applies — these have strict deadlines.
How Vik Immigration helps
We order and analyse the officer's notes, identify precisely why the application failed, and build a stronger, evidence-led resubmission — or advise honestly when a different pathway is the better move.
