The situation

The applicant was a minor from Chile whose visitor status had expired in Canada because of an oversight outside his control. After receiving temporary authorization, the family needed a longer-term solution so he could return to Canada and continue school.

What we handled

Handled the matter from start to finish, including status review, temporary resident permit and study permit applications, guardianship evidence, CBSA documentation, travel compliance, and the outside-Canada study permit application.

Outcome
Temporary resident permit and initial study authorization secured after the overstay. A new study permit was then approved only 11 days after the outside-Canada application was submitted, allowing the minor to return to Canada and continue school under the care of his legal guardians.
